I hope this answers your questions about the vaious techniques I use in my massage therapy practice.

SWEDISH

A slow light pressure designed to energize the body by stimlating circulation and used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.

DEEP TISSUE

As it sounds, harder / deeper pressure that goes into the muscle to release tension and knots.  Techniques which utilize deep muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia.

THERAPEUTIC

Using a combination of techniques, your massage program can help you to attain the physical, mental and emotional status you desire. Over time you will become stronger, more flexible, physically and emotionally self aware and reducing your chances for injury.

REFLEXOLOGY

Similar to acupressure the manipulation of points on the hands, feet, face and ears that correspond to other parts of the body.  It works with the body's energy flow to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion.  This works to stimulate self healing and maintain balance in physical function.

ACUPRESSURE AND TRIGGER POINT

As with acupuncture, certain points on the body correlates with nerve endings and stimulation of bodily functions.  The techniques uses pressure to release knots (toxins) improve circulation and results in a feeling of overall wellness.

ACUPRESSURE FACE LIFT
Relaxing the muscles of the face through pressure on the various muscles release them so they go back to their appropriate position.  With the spa facial, the skin is cleansed, toned and moisturized so the wrinkles and puffiness are reduced.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Using pressure and flowing manipulation to stimulate the rhythm and flow of the lymphatic system for overall health benefits.  The lymphatic system fights infections and promotes healing throughout the body.  The only way to pump lymphatic fluid throughout the body is through exercise or massage.

LOMI LOMI  (HAWAIIAN)

This massage is about unconditional acceptance and reverence of the person receiving the massage and any conditions they have.  Using long and luxurious connecting strokes that are wavelike, it loosens muscles, relieves pain and gives a feeling of being nurtured.  A true pampering experience, it is one of my favorites massages to receive and give.
HOT ROCK MASSAGE

A combination of other techniques utilizing heated river rocks.  The rocks are heated to a temperature of approximately 120-150 degrees.  Oil or lotion is applied to the body and rocks are used in fluid movements to relax the muscles at a much faster pace.  The rocks can also be strategically placed on areas of the body to facilitate release and tension and overall relaxation.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Using various techniques, massage relieves many of the normal discomforts during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, edema and sore swollen ankles and feet.  Using pillows in the last trimester makes receiving a massage more comfortable for the expectant mother.

SINUS MASSAGE

Concentrating on the neck, shoulders, head and acupressure point on the face using lymphatic drainage and heated eucaluptus towels.  Relieves sinus-related aliments including headaches, congestion and other issues associated with sinus problems.

STRETCHING AND JOINT ROTATION

Stretching through pushing and pulling or applying pressure helps to loosen muscles, relieves stress, release knots and increase blood circulation.  Rotating with circular motion of the joints loosens tendons and ligaments and lubricates cartilage to improve range of motion.

BREATHING

This technique is used by the client during the massage.  I teach my clients to breath deeply and extend the exhale for as long as possible.  This helps to focus on the areas of the body being manipulated and the massage is more theraputic.
